On March 19, 2023, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy released Rs. 698.68 crores under the Jagananna Vidya Deevena Scheme for 9.86 lakh students enrolled in various professional courses such as ITI, Polytechnic, Degree, Engineering, Medicine, and others. The students received reimbursement of tuition fees and hostel charges. Monetary incentives of Rs. 15,000, Rs. 10,000, and Rs. 20,000 were provided to Polytechnic, ITI, and Graduate Degree and other course students, respectively.

To be eligible, students had to pass their previous academic year. Students studying in welfare hostels were exempted from mess charges, and hostel charges. The initiative helped reduce school dropouts to 6.62 percent and increased campus placements from 37,000 to 85,000. The helpline number 1092 is available for resolving any issues with colleges.

  • Andhra Pradesh government on 30 November 2023 has released Rs 686 crore as the 3rd installment for education assistance scheme.
  • Under the Jagan Anna Vidya Dewan Yojana, fees has been reimbursed to students belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes, Minorities, Economically Backward Classes and divyang students.
  • A total amount of Rs.4000 crore had been released under this scheme, which includes some amount pending during the previous government’s tenure.
