The U.S. has said it plans to increase the number of student visa appointments for Indian students by at least 30%. With India becoming one of the major countries sending students to the U.S., U.S. student visa dates for Indians are increasing to allow more and more students to study abroad.
During his visit to Aurangabad, U.S. Consul General Mike Hankey said visa deadlines for Indian students will increase by 30% in the coming year.
In the past year, more than 1.25 lakh Indian students have studied in the US. Indian Students went to the US in record numbers in a year, establishing India as the world’s leading sender of students. This year we are trying to go even further,” said Hankey told reporters.
U.S. officials are aiming to increase the number of summer registration dates by 30 percent, he added. “We hope to welcome more Indian students to the United States,” he said.
During the visit, Hankey also visited the doctoral university. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada and interact with students there.

U.S. student visa appointments for Indians to increase by 30% The U.S. government also recently announced that it will increase processing fees for certain visa applications, including student and tourist visas.
In 2022, U.S. embassies will issue a total of 125,000 visas to Indian students. In September 2022, that number is 82,000. However, student visas from embassies set a record at Rs 1.25 lakh.
The U.S. is not the only country with the largest number of Indian students. In the U.K., according to the data released by the British Ministry of Home Affairs, the number of Indian students studying in the U.K. exceeds that of Chinese students.
